Floating wind

Floating offshore wind power offers new opportunities and alternatives compared to fixed structures, as floating wind turbines can be deployed in larger and deeper offshore areas further from shore where the wind potential is even higher.

Floating turbines are moored to the seabed with multiple mooring lines and anchors. In Seasystems we have used our 30 years of offshore experience to develop competitive and reliable solutions for floating wind.

The company had its breakthrough in this segment in 2020, when Kvaerner ASA awarded Seasystems a contract for the supply of mooring equipment to Hywind Tampen – Equinor’s new floating wind farm in the North Sea. We delivered a total of 33 hull brackets, used to attach anchoring lines to the hulls on the project’s 11 turbines, and will provide ROV tools for possible replacement of the anchor lines.
